Avensis is the smart choice

“More than ever, the Avensis appears to be the clever choice in this market – even if it is still a very sensible choice” says Auto Express of the facelifted Toyota.

“The Avensis has a reputation for being a worthy all-rounder but somewhat forgettable,” begins the review before getting into the nitty gritty.
“If you push the engine too hard, it does still sound slightly rough, but it’s near silent at a steady 70mph. “Toyota has also tweaked the front and rear suspension to make the ride more comfortable at cruising speeds. The changes have been well implemented, with the supple suspension soaking up the usual ups and downs with ease.”
Auto Express also notes the “extensive equipment list at this price is unmatched in the class”. However, it reckons the Avensis still trails the Ford Mondeo as the drivers choice down a twisty B road. (Link: Auto Express, December)
