Toyota top green manufacturer

“Toyota has been given a 2011 Green Manufacturing Award in light of its European operations,” reports Motortorque, for its commitment to “building products in the most efficient way possible”.

Toyota Europe came out on top “thanks to its production processes at its plants in Burnaston and Deeside”.

Despite being in operation since the early 1990s, Toyota has continuously developed its manufacturing process. The Burnaston plant uses a solar panel farm to produce enough energy to build 7,000 cars, and Toyota is also “slashing the amount of energy and water required to build its vehicles”.

It is also one of only four manufacturers “to have average new car CO2 emissions of 130g/ km or less and meet the EU CO2 emissions target for 2012”.
