Thanks to the launch of a new PS3 driving simulation game, drivers of Toyota’s GT86 Coupe will now be able race against themselves.
Drivers will be able to do this by plugging a wireless telemetry recording device, called the “Sports Drive Logger”, into their Toyota GT86 Coupe which will record information on their driving.
The telemetry system collects data on acceleration, braking, steering angles, gear shift operation, engine speed and vehicle speed from the car’s controller area network (CAN), and location information from a dedicated GPS system.
All of this information is recorded on a USB device, which can then be uploaded to any PS3, which allows drivers to race against themselves in the computer game.
The aim of this advanced technology and the driving simulation game is to help driving improve technique and track placement. Drivers can also use the game’s “GPS data visualizer” to compare their telemetry with other drivers, including professionals.
The “Sports Drive Logger” was first tested in Europe at a Launch event for GT6 at Silverstone last year and is yet to launch in the UK.
The Toyota GT86 Coupe is a sharp handling sports vehicle which is a good road vehicle and great is you’re interested in taking your car out on trackdays.
