Toyota is continuing to establish an encouraging improvement in UK car sales in 2014 to-date, after seven months of the year.
According to statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Toyota recorded 5,791 new car registrations in the UK market during the month of July 2014 alone. In this particular month the Japanese manufacturer also took a 3.35 per cent share of the market.
It all means that the latest figures for the year-to-date show Toyota has now sold 56,855 new cars to UK customers after seven months of the year. When compared to this stage last year, the company has increased sales by 5.28 per cent. After seven months of last year, Toyota had managed 54,003 new car sales.
In 2014, Toyota has launched a new version of one of its best selling models to the UK market, the Aygo. The new-generation Toyota Aygo, available as a three or five-door model, has been on sale since July and it sports an eye-catching distinctive design.
The very compact Aygo city car also provides very low running costs from its 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine used. This unit produces 68bhp and it is linked to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard. An X-Shift automatic gearbox is available optionally on particular five-door models.
The Aygo returns an official average fuel economy of 68.9mpg, while CO2 emissions are recorded at just 95g/km. Prices for the new Toyota Aygo range currently starts from just £7,995.
This summer Toyota has also refreshed its Yaris supermini range with some updated styling and improved powertrains boasting greater efficiency. The Yaris, a rival to the Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa, is available with two petrol engines, a 1.4-litre diesel and a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain.
The Yaris hybrid is particularly efficient, recording an average fuel economy of 85.6mpg. CO2 emissions are at just 75g/km, which is 4g/km less than prior the car’s update this summer.
Pricing for the updated Toyota Yaris currently starts from £9,995.
