There aren’t many modern famous movie cars, but one example that certainly fits the bill is Paul Walker’s modified Toyota Supra used in the original The Fast and the Furious - and it’s up for auction.
Those dedicated to the film franchise will be quite familiar with the late Walker’s bright orange-clad Supra from the first outing of the seven so far, where the car with Walker at the wheel took on Vin Diesel’s character and his Dodge Charger in the film’s memorable finale.
Mecum Auctions will be offering the car, with an expected sale price of around £130,000 ($200,000); however, potential buyers should know that the Supra one of several stunt clones and makes use of Toyota’s non-turbo classic straight-six, with around 220bhp on tap going through a five-speed gearbox. The car also dons two NOS (nitrous oxide) chambers but neither are connected.
Sound expensive? Even a Supra that hasn't appear in a movie is a great buy. The Supra was quite possibly the most reliable sports car ever made, and if you own one in good condition you'll see that your car is currently appreciating in value. That's likely to continue with the rumours of a new Hybrid Toyota Supra being created, expect more on that in the next few years.
Walker’s character in the film drove the twin-turbo version, of course, but this Supra was still given screen time and also has a full roll cage, heavy duty suspension, a set of competition seats, a performance steering wheel and a strengthened fuel tank. On the outside, you’ll be able to admire that wild bodykit and rear spoiler, those iconic Yokohama tyres and body graphics.
