To celebrate the talents of the world’s best buskers, Toyota is launching a global street music initiative, Feeling the Street!

Toyota Global Music Campaign

All around the world, you’ll hear some of the best music being played live on the street, all thanks to Toyota!

For the next eight weeks, street musicians can upload original videos of their music-making to the Feeling the Street site. Visitors can then choose their favourite performers, helping select six individuals to make up a new Global Street Band.

The competition itself comprises of three phases, which contestants will have to work their way through to reach the final and be part of the Global Street Band. Phase 1 encourages budding musicians to simply enter their video/recording, capturing their skills and what makes them a great musician and original songwriter. After submitting their track, it will be available to be viewed from across the globe, where users can throw virtual money in to a virtual hat in order to vote for their favourite musician.

From May to June, audiences will be able to pick a combination of their six favourite artists, who they’d like to see collaborate on one great song. This is what’s being considered as Phase 2 of the campaign.

Phase 3 of the campaign see the coming together of the six chosen musicians, the formation of the new Global Street Band. Once chosen, the six musicians will travel to New Zealand for a nine-day nationwide tour, culminating in a live showcase gig on stage. Whilst on stage, the six musicians will be joined by a few of those who voted them into the band, six lucky audience winners will also travel with the musicians as their roadies!
