The Toyota Hilux is world renowned as one of the toughest vehicles you can buy, and with the new updated version it remains as one of the best pick-up trucks on the market.
This new model for 2016 is longer, wider and taller than its predecessor meaning you can pack more things in the flat bed and still travel in comfort.
Available in Single, Extra and Double Cab body styles, this adaptable and dependable machine is useful in many situations, with the updated 4x4 system and improved towing abilities, with a new towing weight of 3.5 tonnes.
Introduced in this new Hilux is a 2.4-litre D-4D Global Diesel (GD) engine, which features Start/Stop technology and is one of the best engines in its class for providing torque lower down the range, which is paired with class-leading economy. The Hilux is now capable of 39.8mpg - an impressive figure for a working vehicle and a 9 per cent improvement on the previous model.
The two-wheel drive models are paired with a six-speed manual, while the all-wheel drive models can be used with either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
To keep the car as strong as possible, the new Hilux has a newly developed ladder-frame chassis, which offers 20 per cent more torsional rigidity and helps improve handling, ride comfort and vibration reduction. This is also one of the toughest chassis we’ve ever produced to make sure it stays intact in the most extreme driving environments.
Also introduced in this model is Toyota’s new Safety Sense suite of driver aids, which uses a laser and camera mounted on the front and assists the driver on the road. Features include a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beam and Road Sign Assist systems.
